Alex Zuffoletti
Artist Statement
With this set of videos this year I wanted to explore different ways of editing together sound and visuals. With this work the main idea was to release myself from the prison of constructing a story and more just focus on creating visuals that were interesting to look at. Film always seemed very structured and in this case the idea was to create something very loose and often that made no sense. This kind of film has always annoyed me, that's why this time I wanted to lean into it and be a part of what I hated. Going to art galleries the stuff that made no sense and that didn't seem to have enough meaning to seem important was always the stuff I didn't like and I figured if I wanted to have some Artistic integrity I would make those sorts of things. Which is why this year I have made a set of music videos, some set to footage I didn't shoot and songs I didn't write often edited in a very confusing fashion. I think that I've been successful in creating things that make no sense to me and often no sense to other people and are more just about exploring what I can do with the film at the moment.
