Artist Statement

My art usually looks fairly clean and graphic. These paintings follow this style. I chose to use a limited color palette and made sure they were vibrant. There was no specific inspiration that led me to paint these things. I saw pictures of things close to these and altered them to my liking. This project was very enjoyable and I learned a lot from it.

Kate Turman is a sixteen-year-old sophomore at Renaissance School. She was born in Nassawadox, Virginia but has moved around Virginia a few times since settling where she lives now. She has many hobbies, most of which involve art. Some of her favorites include embroidery, painting, being in nature, baking, and spending time with animals (especially hers). She also has recently started learning how to do graphic design. In her art, she prefers to use bright colors in a graphic style and obsesses over making sure her art looks clean and sharp. Most of Kate’s inspiration comes from plants, animals, and any random objects she sees around her.
